Styrenic Polymers Market Global Industry Size, Future Trends, Growth Key Factors, Demand, Manufacture Players and Opportunities Analysis by Outlook
Styrenic
polymers are low-cost plastics that comprise a family of major plastic products
that use styrene as a key building block. Because of their amorphous structure,
these polymers can be easily processed well above their softening point and
over a wide temperature range. When compared to other partially crystalline
polymers, syrenic polymers do not have a distinct melting point. This not only
allows for faster processing of these polymers, but also for high dimensional
stability and excellent mechanical properties. Polystyrene, expandable
polystyrene, styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer, styrene-methyl methacrylate
copolymer, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer, and
acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate copolymer are examples of styrene polymers, as
are blends of these polymers with polypheny (PC).
Styrenic polymers are used to make a wide
range of household goods, including cups, utensils, furniture, and kitchen
appliances; consumer electronics; automobile parts; sports and recreational
equipment; boats; and durable, lightweight packaging. The global styrenic
polymers market is expected to grow significantly over the forecast
period due to its widespread use in a variety of end-use industries such as
automotive, construction, consumer goods, and packaging. The expansion of the
automotive industry in recent years, particularly in emerging markets such as
China and India, has increased demand for styrenic polymers. Over the next
seven years, this is expected to have a positive impact on the styrenic polymer
market.
The market for styrenic polymers is divided
into polystyrene (PS), expandable polystyrene (EPS), acrylonitrile butadiene
styrene (ABS), unsaturated polyester resins (UPR), and styrene-butadiene rubber
(SBR). Because of their superior chemical and physical properties, such as lightweight,
chemical inertness, heat resistance, electrical insulation, and rigidity,
syrenic polymers are used in a variety of end-use industries. The increased use
of UPR in marine accessories, pipes and tanks, and wind energy devices such as
wind blades and rotors is expected to drive the growth of the styrenic polymers
market.
