Floriculture Market Size, share, growth report explores industry trends & analysis
Floriculture Market |
Floriculture, also referred to as flower
farming, is the cultivation of flowering and ornamental plants. Although
flowers have long been a part of Indian culture, and have been cultivated for a
variety of purposes ranging from aesthetic to social and religious, the
commercial floriculture industry is relatively new. Floriculture has become one
of the most important commercial trades in Indian agriculture due to a
significant increase in demand for cut and loses flowers.
Floriculture,
also known as flower farming, is a subset of horticulture that includes the
cultivation of ornamental plants, flowering for pot plants, nurseries, and so
on. It cultivates and nourishes flowers with one goal in mind: maximum flower
and flower bud production. Farmers in floriculture usually experiment with new
varieties to improve the development of buds and flowers.
Bud and
flower production necessitates the use of a grow room, a greenhouse, plant
nutrition, irrigation, the breeding of new strains, and pest management.
Floriculture cultivation focuses on plant spacing, pruning, optimal flower
harvest time frame, flower heads, and other plant parts.
While
exports continue to be a major motivator for cultivators, domestic demand for
flowers is also increasing rapidly, particularly in metros and larger cities.
Modernization and growing Western cultural influences have prompted consumers
to purchase flowers for a variety of occasions such as Valentine's Day,
marriages, anniversaries, birthdays, friendship day, Mother's Day, Father's
Day, and so on. During religious festivals, flowers are consumed on a large
scale throughout the country.
In the
coming years, global
floriculture is expected to grow steadily. At the moment, advancements
in plant biotechnology, including genome sequencing, are driving the global
floriculture market. Increased crop yield and the development of genetically
modified flowering plants have resulted from the use of newer techniques.
